Getting the right answer from your professional network

As many long time users of LinkedIn already know, LinkedIn Answers is a free service which allows members to ask their business-related question, and receive answers from their professional network and the hundreds of thousands of experts within the LinkedIn network as a whole.

The service gives, over 11 million users of LinkedIn, a quick and reliable way to get industry specific answers to business questions and to build upon their professional reputation by responding to questions relevant
to their expertise.

There’s a broad range of categories to select from including: technology, hiring and human resources, personal finance, and my personal favorite marketing and sales. There’s even one on blogging!

Sample questions:

What the best way to get a business (advertising) book proposal in front of the right people?

  1. I like the answers feature in general. However, there are a lot of non-business related questions that are being posted.

    It would be nice to be able to rate the questions relevance as well as the answers.

  2. It would be useful in future releases of the LinkedIn interface that a user can “selectively” make available the names of their Level 1 contacts. This would allow certain high-profile people to promote the careers of others (through association) at their discretion. Currently, it appears as if it is all or none; I either make all of my primary contacts transparent, or not.

    …something for the LinkedIn programmers to consider.

  3. Just done my first answer, sorry on 2 years late!! The system seems really good with a lot of quality answers being written. Yahoo answers seem to get spammed by junk answers…look out for me in the top 10 soon!
