River of LinkedIn videos (Product, Engineering, Users, and more)
Today, we started a new vlog series on the blog to showcase examples of LinkedIn users and highlight ways they use LinkedIn in their professional life. I thought this may be a good time to stop and take a quick look at the increasing number of vlog posts we’ve published in the past few months. To give you an overview, most of our videos are categorized by
1. Feature announcements (Product, Engineering and Design perspectives)
2. Success Stories
3. Events we attend or host
Here’s a Top 3 video countdown from all the videos we’ve published in the past few months on the LinkedIn blog.
#3. LinkedIn Mobile demo for the iPhone
This marked the first wave of video based demos we did around feature announcements. We started with Jerry Luk (Principal Engineer, LinkedIn Mobile) walk us through a demo of LinkedIn Mobile on the iPhone.
#2. LinkedIn’s redesigned homepage demo
Besides giving us a fantastic blooper reel, Elliot Shmukler (Product Manager) gave us a simple demonstration of some of the key features of LinkedIn’s recently redesigned homepage.
#1. LinkedIn Q&A Event – Fake Steve Jobs on playing the Real Steve Jobs
With an audience of over 350 packing into the Computer History Museum, it was time to get into the secret life of Forbes’ Senior Editor Dan Lyons (author of the “Fake Steve Jobs” blog). The sparks flew when we got Guy Kawasaki, former chief evangelist at Apple, to interview him.

Moving forward:
* Watch some, learn some more: We’ll incorporate a video demo of key features that the users talk about in in future vlogs. You currently see these tips and tricks as screenshots in the blog post itself (see the most recent user vlog post here).
* Less is more: We’ll also like to reduce the length of the videos themselves from an average of 5 minutes to under 3 minutes, because we know you have to get back to more important work.
Any other suggestions? Feel free to leave a comment on the blog post.

Hope this doesn’t count as spam but I’d like to alert people to the fact that the Financial Times is gathering examples of how people can use LinkedIn and other social networking sites on its Management Blog. It is all in preparation for an interview with Kevin Eyres, the European boss of LinkedIn. Some good comments already posted. Thanks, Adam Jones, co-author, FT Management Blog.

How is it that if one is removed from your contact list, that you can not add them back on at a later date. Seems like a simple and obvious function for a website with the capabilities of LinkedIn.
In the meantime, I can’t add my business partner because I accidentally deleted him.

@adam jones,
I noticed there are already a few good examples of LinkedIn usage on your blog. Thanks for stopping by. Here are a couple of examples I stumbled upon earlier today. (http://tinyurl.com/5y8rad and http://tinyurl.com/5ao5vl)
@jon,
You should be able to add individuals back at a later date, although I’m not sure of your specific case history. Feel free to email me with further specifics and I’ll re-route it to the right person.
