While 50 million is an important milestone, we’re even more excited about how our members are using the site. Around the globe, people turn to LinkedIn to create and manage their professional identities online. They reconnect with former colleagues and develop new relationships, enabling them to create and collaborate with a network of trusted individuals. Every day professionals use LinkedIn to define themselves —and their businesses — to the world.
We’re proud to have reached this latest milestone, and we very much appreciate our members’ use of LinkedIn. However, in the context of our mission – to connect the world’s professionals to make them more productive and successful – we’re just getting started.

Congratulations!!!!
With any doubt this is my favourite network.
Hey LinkedIn,
good to know that your’re growing. Good luck and all the best.
Great site and there is lots and lots of ways to connect! Thanks Linkedin!
Well done!!! Upwards and onwards!!!
Jeff, congrats to everyone at LinkedIn! Good job! I personally love your site and use it often.
Question: where do I find the latest stats on LinkedIn engagement?
Thanks!
E
Congrats to the LinkedIn Team! I have little doubt in my mind that before long we will be celebrating 100,000,000,000 LinkedIn Professionals! Keep up the great work!

Please post the comment with: 100,000,000, not 100,000,000,000. The first was was written before coffee.

Congratulations! A huge achievement and a very worthwhile site!
Congratulations, but about profiles per capita I have the following calculation:
Denmark has 435,628 profiles, population 5,519,441 giving a ratio of 7.89 %.
Netherlands has 1,278,927 profiles, population 16,500,156 giving a ratio of 7.75 %.
USA has 23,089,079 profiles, population 307,698,000 giving a ratio of 7.50 %.
Profiles are from LinkedIn people search 2009-10-14 20:50 UTC.
Population from wikipedia 2009 estimate.
How many in the UK, Jeff? Any specific trends you are seeing with the downturn etc?
Congratulations LinkedIn! I look forward to LinkedIn becoming the defacto standard for professionals worldwide and to close in on the gap of membership numbers with Facebook. The more members that LinkedIn has, the stronger all of our networks become!
Good deal… Congratulations.
Jeff,
This is a fantastic achievement! It was only 40 M when I joined. This site has been of tremendous value to me!
Thank you!
Congratulations!
Keep up the good work
Congratulations!

Congratulations. LinkedIn rocks. Wishing you and the LinkedIn Team all the very best for the future. Also, please do stay committed to the free services as well and its users. Not all of us need the premium services.
Linkedin is a great site but it has it’s problems. For those of us who are self-employed and working outside of a corporate culture it is bit awkward and less fluid. For example making a recommendation for a “colleague” is impossible unless one has worked in the same company as that person. All of my colleagues are people who are professional peers and in the same industry but not people that I have worked with in a corporate way. It is hard to make an accurate recommendation. This bias permeates Linkedin and I find a bit less user-friendly than I would like.
congratulations
Congratulations on this milestone.
In how many currencies do you accept payment?
What are you plans for supporting more locales. The “Language” selector lists only four languages. Also, there is more to locale than just language.
I see that many labels are changed when a different language is selected. How about changing dates and times into something more palatable for the viewer?

Wow Jeff! That’s fantastic news. What an incredible growth rate. LinkedIn has been an amazing platform and resource for many of my clients to uncover job leads, interviews, and cultivate their networks. Thank you!
Great! congratulation. How many people does your original plan want to have?
You have proven to me how sucessful social networking is becoming the number 1 way to promote yourself and your company.
Many years of sucess to you!!

Really interested in seeing how we can do more with LinkedIn in the public relations business. Communications and a common frame of reference is at the heart of the health care debate, for instance. How can we create context that isn’t tainted by the back and forth of left and right? Is LinkedIn a place for real professionals to meet and create solutions? My post today at http://www.livingstonbuzz.com/2009/10/23/using-linkedin-as-a-pr-tool/
Fantastic Job Well done!
Greetings from Germany

Congrats to Jeff, Reid and to LinkedIn! This has been an exciting run. I’ve been an avid user and promoter of Linkedin to the staffing industry and recruiting community since I joined as one of the fist 1 million users. It’s great to see the new functionality and the growth. Keep it up.

LinkedIn is a great tool to make good professional social networking, getting social help for our business etc etc. However for small businesses, we still want to see some more ways to define our business pages clearly on LinkedIn.

Clap clap for Linkedin. Great job.
mmmm, I think you may be right in what you have said in this article. Whoever there will be many people will disagree with your opinion
Congrats, hope you hit the 100 mill pretty soon.
It is my favourite business social network.
Congratulations.
This is a brilliant network. Do you have any stats for Australia?
LinkedIn generally has more professional members that the general public, so I find the level of qualification much higher.
I’m not sure it’s quite taken off in the UK. But in the world of internet marketing, I guess it doesn’t really matter where on the globe you choose to work.
I find Linked In fascinating. I am still trying to wrap my mind around it. I know that in 72 hours my company has made some great sales as a result of involvement. It has changed my entire marketing strategy for 2011.
I for one would like to take my cap off to Linked. My fully embroidered baseball cap, to be specific. Good job boys. Keep ‘em flying!
Congrats on your number, would be interesting to know what’a the number of members at the present date
Cool post, its insane to think you are connected with 50 million other people. gotta love the internet.
50 million professionals worldwide. But i think you that you don’t know how many professionals are in my state. Perhaps 1 million, not sure, but now I was surprised how many there are worldwide. However, over those 50 million a i hope that i’m added.
