The past months have been enormously difficult for the global economy. The U.S. job market, in particular, has been hit hard with millions of lost jobs and an unemployment rate in the double digits. Economists claim the recession is over, but for many without a job – or sometimes in a job that does not inspire them – this sounds cruelly abstract. Landing a job, and ideally one they’re passionate about, is still a primary concern.
LinkedIn is in a unique position to connect millions of professionals with the best career opportunities from all types of employers – small and medium businesses and larger corporations.
The LinkedIn incentives available during the next two days (Jan 28th and 29th) are designed to:
- help job seekers reach out to hiring managers directly and be better prepared for interviews
- help employers post more of the positions they’re hiring for on LinkedIn
Our Jobs Stimulus site can tell you more.
Forward this offer to both job seekers and hiring managers and help your connections find their dream job, even in this economy.

Thank you! On behalf of those of us who has been impacted by the recession and have lost our jobs. Its been very challenging to get back into the workplace. Every little bit helps and we all have to acknowledge that this is a problem and help each other out!!
Why is the stimulus only available to users who are not already Premium Service subscribers?
I would gladly upgrade from Business to Business Plus if I were to receive a 50% off the first 3 months!
With the condition of the economy and such extended periods of individual’s unemployment, I was wondering if perhaps you would consider offering the following:
LinkedIn Membership on a contingency bases for the first 3 months. If we find employment thru LinkedIn during this time, we will pay you at the stated discount rate 50% of membership for each month utilized. If we do not find employment within the first 3 months as a result of your service, then we owe nothing? (:o
Could LinkedIn benefit from taking a look at the interface usability of UK’s DirectMatches biz networking site? Not the biz model, but the design – with an upgraded, sleeker look and feel…makes access to other social media links much more facile.
I don’t mean to gush, but I’m just glad that sites like LinkedIn are available to help job-seekers and employers connect.
Great idea. But two days to take advantage of it, if anyone even found out, was too short.
Also, have you considered creating another lower-priced / featured account upgrade. LI the company could probably generate alot of revenue by offering an under $10/month account upgrade, IMHO.
That´s great news, we need more Entrepreneurs and Job Creators
I always find it funny to see what feels like a global brand make a US offer. I say this with great respect for my southern brethren.
Starbucks has done this in the past on its Facebook fan pages – sharing free ice cream offers in the US for its global fans. Thank goodness for geo-targetting or geo-location for the FB wall. Wouldn’t want this for your blog – but hopefully the offer was a global one. I found it too late – so it could be a two day offer based on when the message is digested perhaps.
The offer itself is wonderful – but only reflects part of the audience.
Laurie.
Connecting Pro’s by sites like this is a great way to come in contact with other market related persons and companies. To find jobs by this portal could be useful as well.
This is the good way of connecting people and share the information about this.
Thanks
A great feature to have would be to save search criteria so we don’t have to enter it again to run the same search a few days apart
@Jamil- You can save searches. Checkout the following FAQ to learn how:

Great article. Idea is really good.
help employers post more of the positions they’re hiring for on LinkedIn
that’s a good idea, I need to set up my linkedin account
Thank you for the post. This post is very helpful for those people who have lost their job under the recession crisis.
Here in the UK, evidence suggests that you’re more likely to find a job, if your friends are in employment. Also, you’re less likely to find a job, if your friends are predominantly unemployed. This could of course be due to lots of confounding factors, such as the social and economic set of you and your friends. However, I thought that this was an excellent post, and here in the UK many people believe that unemployment is not a price-well-worth-paying. Our economy, in my view, will only survive if we have a jobs stimulus; the jury’s still out currently over whether we need a stimulus such as quantitative easing, but that’s a different issue altogether! One that our excellent colleagues in the USA are also facing, following Benke et al.
