“We can make him better than he was before. Better, stronger, faster.” — The Six Million Dollar Man
On December 28, 2009, we decided to ring in the new year a little early with the launch of the new LinkedIn for iPhone v3.0 application. Since that time, we’ve seen tremendous excitement and enthusiasm around the new application. In fact, in the short time since the launch, we’ve seen the number of active users of the application triple.
I’m happy to report that, as of yesterday, Apple has approved the new LinkedIn for iPhone v3.1 for availability in the iTunes App Store.
Download: LinkedIn for iPhone v3.1
Feature Enhancements
We’ve received a lot of feedback from users in the past few months, and we’re hard at work on a large number of improvements. For this release, we chose to focus primarily on making the application faster and more stable for people with large networks.
The most significant enhancements surround the new Favorites feature that we launched with v3.0 of the application. We’ve now made it easier than ever to go through your connections, and quickly mark which of your connections are Favorites.
Bulk Add Favorites in v3.1
Once you add your favorites, you now have a quick list of contacts that you can go to when you need to send a quick message or look up information before a meeting. In addition, you can filter your Network Updates to show only updates from your Favorites. Managing the list is as easily as a simple swipe of your finger.
Swipe to Delete Favorites in v3.1
Over a dozen small feature enhancements made it into this version, including a lot of the little things that our users requested. For example, it’s now possible to set your status directly from your profile page.
LinkedIn Mobile: 2010
2010 is a big year for LinkedIn mobile. If you are one of our LinkedIn for iPhone users, please join the conversation in the LinkedIn for iPhone group. We’re very excited to hear from you and hear suggestions for new features and improvements.
LinkedIn for iPhone v3.1 is live and available in the app store. Get it now.

It seems the various iPhone updates are eating up all development time that is required to come up with a LinkedIn Blackberry application – I really do not understand why a business network is not recognizing the use of Blackberry devices in a business environment.
The BB app has been promised months ago but still iPhone apps are coming out of the factory …
Hi Daniel,
The development efforts for the iPhone and Blackberry are separate. One is not impacting the other.
We’re huge fans of the Blackberry, and use it heavily here within LinkedIn. We’re also extremely excited about the upcoming release of LinkedIn for Blackberry.
Take care,
Adam
Is there a time line for an Android version?
Great to see !
What about your efforts on LinkedIn for android which appears to be lagging…
I have to say that since the 3 series, the LinkedIn app has been slowly working it’s way to my iPhone’s front page.
Will there ever be an Android release of this?
Anything coming out for Android 2.0 soon?
Thanks — am a big of LinkedIn and think the app is a must have.
Can you please try enabling a location based feature, so I can which of my linkedin buddies is at a conference or tradeshow?
3.1 appears to be more stable than 3.0. Favorites is a fun tool, but since you cannot manage your favorites online, it’s useless if you have a lot of connections.
A major drawback for me is the fact that you have again restricted the display of the actual no. of connections. It’s back to the old 500+ connections. Why is that? I loved that feature and it’s the reason I’m reverting back to v3.0.
Nevertheless, keep up the great work. It’s definitely on my iPhone homepage!
When are you going to come out with a Android Platform APP??
Glad to see the effort to bring LinkedIn fully mobile. I like the idea of enabling location awareness for contacts. Since getting my Android phone I have become more and more mobile in the way I communicate. I would really like to see LinkedIn support Android in the near future. I haven’t seen any announcement for that. Maybe you can consider based on the recent growth of the Android market?
I just downloaded the LinkedIn app for my iPod Touch. It’s great I can manage my connections and favorites, but it would be even better if I could update my profile. I still have to log in on a computer to do this. Or did I miss something?
When is the Blackberry release? I heard that it was “coming soon” months ago.
so when is the Android app coming?
Distinct lack mention of the word “Android” in Adam’s paean to BlackBerry up there. Shows what LinkedIn’s priorities are, there.
What’s missing in most mobile/app versions of LI is group management. I’m a group manager and I’d *really* like to be able to do this on the move. I use a BlackBerry and an Android phone so maybe, one day, I might get to do this
Another vote for an Andriod app, please.
Can’t wait for the iPad version!
Hi,
I’ve got a problem to get my linkedin inbox, it’s always black (seems that it is not possible to display it)?
I’m using last version.
Thanks for your help.
Brgds,
A.
Vince queano likes linkedin
Vincent queano is impressed with the new app.
Excellent app, great! In the iPhone-app I can now download name, company and role of a LinkedIn-profile to my iPhone-contacts.
At the same time feature request: would it be possible to download *all* known contact details – such as profile photo, emails, telephone – automatically?
Kind regards,
Martin Op ‘t Land
Please release app for android platform. eagerly waiting for it.
I love the LinkedIn app, especially the new “Favorites” feature. This lets me hide the updates from connections that are constantly tweeting throughout the day, filling up my home page and swamping the updates from the rest of my network.
I hope to see this feature on the PC-based version of LinkedIn soon.
I am also patiently waiting for, and looking forward to, the official LinkedIn app for Android
Please, please, please release the LinkedIn application for Android! Thanks in advance.
I too would like to see this for Android. Previous Palm Pre user- now moved to HTC EVO.
Yes please, release an Android version, it would be great!
Please consider it.
App looks great. +2 for android
Looking good, and was a previous iPhone owner, though now +10 for a Android version please
Hello,
Would like to see an Android app soon – especially with contacts sync, which will be really useful (similar to the facebook sync provided in Android 2.1+).
Please we need the Android app!
One more vote for an Android app. The third party ones aren’t cutting it.
+1 vote for Android.. (seems to be a theme here)
LinkedIn for Adroid soon please…
Another vote for LinkedIn for Android soon please…
Android app please. Thank you very much.
Another one requesting a native Android app with contact sync… thanks.
Are there any plans for Android version? Iphone app is great but, what about us
Please develop an Android version. Thanks.
Why no Android app yet? Please make it a priority!!
Hello Adam,
Anything planned for the Android phones ?
Thanks,
Mathieu
Android version please. The user-base is simply too large to ignore ant longer.
+1 for Android app
Just to add one more…Android, please.
Android app, please.
Another request for an Android app, please.
One word – Android!
Another +1 for an Android app
Great, but lets get an Android App! If you have a Palm app, you should defiantly have an Android App. With the New etc Evo iPhone has meet a match along with other Android hardware on the market and still to come. Lets get on with the Android App.
10 more votes for Android App!!!
Another +1 for Android
Please post about when an Android app is going to be available. I believe there are many more Android users than Palm users now.
I would like to add my vote in for the Android app.
The iPhone app is great and I really hope that you’ll put some effort in putting together an android app that rocks equally.
I can’t believe there is a palm version and there isn’t an android version! +1 for android
android! android! android! android! android!
get with it… iphone has too quickly lost it with the business community. please give us an app for the grown-up smart phone.
Android please – the recent Desire has knocked the pants off iPhone, just want a few more Apps out there.
It really doesn’t need to be said because the majority the posts are all posts above saying the same thing…we need LinkedIn app for Android users. Sure, we liked the iPhone app, but now we have dumped our iPhones and moved on to an even better technolgy.
Is there not one individual on staff at LinkedIn that can comment about a LinkedIn Android app in this forum?
@Bill,
We hear you guys loud and clear. Stay tuned for news on the Android front
Mario from LinkedIn
Glad to hear that you’ve started thinking about Android APP it will be a wise investment and make linkedin even more powerful. I’m impressed with how many votes we’ve got already. Android is definetaly growing
Given the amount of people requesting an Android app, and that Android based phones are being more used by networking pros like myself vs the iPhone by general users – I am disappointed that it is taking this long to get an Android app out there. Come on LinkedIn, iPhone app has been available since 2009!
I loved the app on iPhone but since upgrading to Android, looking forward to using the LinkedIn app on my EVO!
Android App please…………….
@Mario,
Great to hear that you guys are working on an Android app for LinkedIn…
The question is…do you have an more information? Blogs/ twitter feeds we can follow…?
Thanks,
Kieron
Too late to add my +1?
Looking forward to the Android app…
I don’t see how an OS like android which is growing 800% per month doesn’t appear in your development plan. We’ll see what comes first your app or another social network similar to this one, honestly I hope the second.
Adding to the chorus… looking forward to an Android app for LinkedIn. Too much data I’d rather not put in third part hands.
Any sign of an android app yet please?
Android is well on its way to become the leading mobile platform. Hope Linkedin gets on board.
One more “Premium” user that is very dissapointed concerning the lack of an Andriod application. We need action not “we’re listening” commnents!
Android App Please..
Android! Android! 3rd party app DroidIn now in epic-fail status, they blame CAPTCHA (srsly?), I think they’re a flock of dodos. ANDROID. PLEASE.
+1 Android
A N D R O I D
Android version, please!
Another vote for an Android app.
But I’m incredibly surprised you’re not prioritising Blackberry over iPhone on a business social network. Seems a bit odd to jump on the iPhone bandwagon first – I guess the platform is trendier but shouldn’t you be trying to maximise the number of users?
I am surprised there is an Apple app before LinkedIn build an Android app. Android is much more used amongst business people like me using LinkedIn. When is this finally being developed? Thanks.
Pleased to see that apparently some action is happening on the Android front. Been looking for a LinkedIn app for quite some time, odds are it’ll make me use LinkedIn more than I do now. Anyone there (staff) able to drop some (basic) info on this one?
Another vote for Android App…I can do everything else on my EVO…I would prefer not to use a third-party app or have to use my iTouch…an App for Android would be much more convenient! Please & Thank you!
Another vote for Android. Please.
May I add my voice to all those waiting for the Android app.
Any update to give us hope?
ANDROID APP, Roll it out before December 2010
Another Android 2 LinkedIN vote
I suspect there is something political or technical going on in the background holding up an Android app. Putting in my vote for an Android app for LI.
Hope it gets resolved very soon as I too have become much more mobile since I bought my Evo, and the one network I use the most isn’t available.
Add my vote for an Android version please.
I would like to see an Android version with contact sync (attributes, pictures,…)
Another Android request/vote here. A client would increase my usage, etc. dramatically. Any news?
Guys, why aren’t we hearing anything about the Android app – just give us an idea on when you’ll get around to developing it?
Another vote for Android!
If 2010 is not possible for an Android app, is it in the plans for 2011?
One more vote for Android please! Given that Android’s going to be 2nd biggest mobile phone platform by the end of the year, there’s a pretty big market to go after!
Thanks
Since Android is now more popular than Blackberry and iPhone, imagine how your userbase would grow if you made an Android app!
Android App please. And as soon as you can please
Please add my vote to the Android App please!!
Especially as the GMail contact upload will not work for me any more.
One more for Andriod. My sister told me this past weekend that Andriod phone in pure numbers has now overtaken iPhone and Blackberry. I’m trying to get a reference for that quote.
Andriod App vote for me too please…
Android App Please…..Interestingly no android app for Linked in when it is most widely used….
Is there a way to delete a connection using your LinkedIn app?
thanks
Wow – Linkedin really do need to respond to their user base with regards to an Android App.
I personally would love to use this as I refuse to follow Steve Jobs “Jackdaw” Technology philosophy.
Linkedin – come now – just think how many Android users there are out there looking but not posting on this site.
Customer Service is fairly simple – and it all starts with communication. Putting a post up 2 months ago saying “Stay Tuned” does not cut it in the 21st Century.
so please – if for no other reason than to stop the repetitive messages appearing here – release some information about when we can anticipate an App for Android. You don’t even have to be exact – just a Quarter estimate would suffice!
Android App +1. Can we at least get a development update?
Please android version!! acctually its crazy we have to beg for this:(
ANDROID – SUPPORT – ANDROID – SUPPORT
ALL THE POSTING ON HERE ARE ASKING FOR ANDROID – OPEN YOUR EYES AND DEVELOP SOMETHING ALREADY -
Without an Android app, my use of LinkedIn has fallen to just about nil. I click on an email update and am forced to login through the browser. It’s ridiculous. I even gave up my Premium membership as a result. I agree with the earlier comment that LinkedIn has the wrong priorities, and their lack of cross-platform app support has them looking like the next MySpace.
Hellooooooooo……. anybody from LinkedIn read this forum?
one more Android request,
BUT more importantly why is there no responses to the many comments/request. Is one update every 30 days too much to ask?
Hope Android app will integrate as Facebook app does:
* Link to exiting contacts from Phone, Exchange, and Facebook so they appear as one
* Available LI Contact information appears in Phone, email, and SMS fields
* Photo from LI can be chosen as the primary photo for that contact
* Show updates and status in FriendStream
+1 Android App again.
I’d really like to see the contacts integrated in the same way it does with google. i.e FULL sync. No point in being told I know that person unless I can contact them. I already know I know them…
Yet another request to create a LinkedIn Android application, please!
Another vote for an Android version.
Hi Android fans. I already posted this on the more recent blog post about the release of the iPhone app (iPhone 3.2) but I wanted to make sure everyone on this thread got this info as well. I think the previous response I wrote on that thread should give you the necessary info so I will just copy and paste it.
“We hear you loud an clear. I also have an Android phone so I know where you are coming from. The most important thing for us is to make sure we put out a quality product and I think you will be pleasantly surprised when we do get it released.”
I hope this helps address some of the concerns that we aren’t listening about the Android app. It’s coming, we just want to make sure it gets done right (which is what is most important to us). Thanks for continuing to be patient.

+1 for android app.
Android app. +100
Hard to believe that an Android app hasn’t been introduced yet. Add another vote to get an official LinkedIn Android app out before the end of the year.
This is another vote for Android version of the LinkedIn mobile app. Do you have any update for us since the August 2nd “We hear you message” Is it in beta yet? Do you need help testing it? Can those of us who work for development firms offer help?
Hi,
Just to follow on from Derek’s comment. As a software developer I can testify that really good software takes time and meticulous attention to detail to get really “right”. As a small business owner/manager, Android user and LinkedIn customer, I can also understand the frustration of having to wait longer.
But I’d rather have no LinkedIn android app than one that makes the experience frustrating or has unreliable syncing features (for example).
Looking forward to version 1.0
Best,
Steve
Are we there yet?
Cant wait for Andriod linkedIn
Thanks for working on the Android app! I just switched over to Android from BlackBerry so I’ll look forward to seeing what you come up with!
I really like the Blackberry app… now I have moved on to Android. Lets get with it. Expecting a great Android app like yesterday.
Thanks for listening. I look forward to the Android app.
Another vote for Android Version +1
I’ve had the Blackberry app and iPhone app. With my company no longer supporting Blackberry or iPhone 4, our choices are iPhone 3GS and ANDROID… more and more of us are going to ANDROID. Easy, flexible and powerfull.
+1 for Linked in on ANDROID!
I am hoping you will release an Android app for LinkedIn then I would probably use LinkedIn more then I do currently.
Just putting in another vote for an Android LinkedIn app. Would be great to have!
Android is the most popular phone system now – let’s have an app!
+1 for Android
Don’t you guys know that more people are choosing Androids over iphones these days??
http://mashable.com/2010/10/15/android-iphone-popularity/
Get with the program!!!!!
+1 for an Android LinkedIn app, please…
Thanks for listening to the users. +1 for Android (when it is fully ready!)
+1 one more for Android….
+1 one more for Android
please!
As the Adnroid OS is rapidly becoming the must have OS of smartphones it would seem common sense to be developing a Linkedin App for Android.
+3 for Android…
Yup … one more vote for Android. Moved-on from iPhone. Way behind … losing my LinkedIn habits already.
And another for android
Android +1.
Android +1
Another month, another request for Android – with contact synchronisation (essential).
I really could use an Android app. The first comment about Android development was THREE MONTHS ago. You already have core code from the other platforms (iPhone, BB), so this shouldn’t be that hard to “get right.” Any update on when we can expect to see an Android app?
Yep, I too would love to see LinkedIn available for Android.
I do think that taking the time for a quality Android App will pay off – no point rushing a substandard piece of software out the door.
Looking forward to being able to use LinkedIn in an App experience on my HTC Desire.
Android PLEASE!
Android +1111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111
still waiting on an android app…
wondering if there is an anticipated time line for a linkedin Android app???
Ok, so given that the first request for an Android app was on 26 March 2010, and it’s now 18 Nov 2010, I think it’s reasonable to request a release date.
All businesses have deadlines. What have you set the LinkedIn developers? As this is (presumably) not an open source app and there are thousands of business people using Android daily, saying “when it’s ready” isn’t going to win hearts and minds any more…
Another vote for an Android app. Just syncing contacts would be nice as a start.
I don’t think enough people have commented on an Android app and when will we get one
Definitely hopeful for an Android app
Hi LinkedIN
Another request for an Android App! Got my HTC Desire HD (far superior to the iPhone 4what?)
Thanks
Richard
Android, please. Android. Even Angry Birds finally got around to it, your turn LinkedIn.
++ for android app
Why is LinkedIn neglecting the Android platform? We need a full Android mobile application.
+1 for Android app… hurry!
Yes…looking for the ANDROID app, or at least let us know a timeline.
Does LinkedIn have some kind of problem or licensing issue with Android?
Just wondering.
+1 for Android. C’mon guys this is December 2010 and still no Android app??
Androïd !
Here is my vote for an Android app for LinkedIn.
Its clear LinkedIn is business oriented (blackberry) and is failing to recognize that development of open source is also a major need to communicate with similar like minded persons. That being said, I dont think we will be seeing anything with regard to Android regardless of what we are told.
There are 150+ requests for Android app in this comment list alone. With almost 10 million androids activated per month, this is a huge market. Pls release an Android App soon.
I am really looking forward to a linkedin for Android App.
Thats one more an android app.
Please release one … Really want to use the app on my HTC Desire
android app pls.
Mark me down as another vote for an Android app.
I guess the moderator doesn’t like me. I keep asking for a date, and my message keeps getting rejected.
All they have to say is, “there is no release date”. Then we’ll know.
@Steve and other folks who mentioned Android
We’ve just launched a beta version of our Android app.
http://blog.linkedin.com/2010/12/16/linkedin-android-beta/
We’re glad we could get this out to you before the holidays. Look forward to your feedback.
Already installed and very glad the wait is finally over!
Thank you!
Excellent! Just installed, now I can keep abreast of updates on the move.
