We hear from students and recent graduates on a daily basis who are struggling in their decision about where to go to school and what to study. Over the course of the last three years, LinkedIn has been working hard to bring students new tools to help them through this decision making process. But an even bigger pain point seems to be figuring out just how they are going to pay for it all.

To help with this problem, we are proud to introduce LinkedIn’s very first scholarship. We are giving away $100,000 in scholarships, with five grand prizes of $10,000. One grand prize will be given away in each of the following five countries: the United States of America, the United Kingdom, Canada, India, and China. There will also be ten runner-up prizes of $5,000 awarded amongst those same five countries.

Entering to win a LinkedIn scholarship is as easy as creating a Decision Board on LinkedIn. We know that this time of year, tens of thousands of students around the world are making choices about which schools to apply to. With LinkedIn Decision Boards, students can manage that school decision process and get help from family, friends, alumni and other students at every step. To enter to win a LinkedIn scholarship, a student must first create a Decision Board, add at least one university or field of study they’re interested in, and then share it with at least one person. From the boards that meet these requirements, the fifteen winners will be chosen at random among the eligible entries.

Here are a few simple tips to get you started:

  1. Think Big: Your Decision Board will be the hub of your selection process so it should start big - add any school or major that piques your interest as you search University Finder or University Rankings.
  2. Spread the Word: One of the most important aspects of the Decision Board is the ability to get real-time feedback from your parents, friends, guidance counselors, or your entire LinkedIn network. Share your board with the people who know you best and let them help you narrow down your choices - or suggest something you wouldn’t have considered otherwise.
  3. Keep it Up: As you narrow down your choices, start applying and - most importantly - start getting acceptance letters, track your progress on your board. You’ll be able to see who else is looking at, applying to or going to the same school as you so you can start building your university network before you even get to campus.

We know how overwhelming it can be to decide where to go to school, what to study, and how to pay for your education.  We believe that these new tools and our scholarship will help students navigate these challenges.
