Future-Proof Your Career Path By Learning Soft Skills with These LinkedIn Learning Courses

Gone are the days where employees stay in the same job for years, let alone a full career. Young professionals in particular are showing a shift in how they view their careers. Over a fifth of those under 24 have already had four or more full-time jobs in their lifetime. If you compare this to the national average of 4.1 jobs in a lifetime, it signals that Gen Z are likely to have far more jobs than the Baby Boomers. Moreover, career pivots are increasingly popular with half of professionals who change jobs are actually moving into different industries with that job change. That’s up nearly 10 percent from 2008.

Chances are high that 10 years from now you won’t be in the same job, or perhaps even the same industry, you’re in currently. But changing industries doesn’t mean having to restart from square one. There are a variety of skills and experiences that can make you a fantastic candidate for a job outside of your industry and throughout your career, your “transferable skills” will help you move up the ladder regardless of what industry or job you are in.  We refer to these skills as “soft skills,” or interpersonal (people) skills.

We’ve looked at the most popular courses on LinkedIn Learning to zero in on the most valuable and sought-after soft skills.  The reason these courses are so popular is because they apply to the widest range of professionals – meaning they are the definition of transferable skills. If you learn these skills, you’re sure to be prepared for any twists and turns your career may take.

See below for a list of the best soft skills you should have in your toolbox and the courses to help you master them.
