Tuesday Tip: Giving and Getting Career Advice on LinkedIn
February 27, 2018
More than 80% of LinkedIn members want to have a mentor or be one to others, but it can be tricky to find the right person or know where to begin. Sometimes you just want a sounding board or a little advice on pivoting to a new industry, tackling a project, or asking for a raise. In these moments, our Career Advice feature can help connect you to people who can help.
You can find the Career Advice hub in the section labelled “Your Dashboard” on your profile - simply add in what advice you’re looking for and we’ll recommend members who could be a fit. From there, start a conversation by sending a LinkedIn message.
Not sure what to say? Start with thanking the person for their time, letting them know what you need help with, and why their experience stood out to you. Pro tip: take a moment to learn more about the person by checking out their LinkedIn Profile. If you have mutual connections or interests, use those as a jumping off point for your message.
You never know where these conversations might lead, so take a moment to try out Career Advice today.
