Updates to our Terms of Service

Our Terms of Service, which includes our User Agreement, Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy and Professional Community Policies, is getting an update effective May 8, 2018. Anytime we make changes to our terms, we hope to make it easy for you - our members - to understand the changes, and the choices and control you have over your data and content. We know you put your trust in us every time you use LinkedIn and we strive to earn that trust everyday by putting you first. With that in mind, here is some of what’s changing:

  • More Clarity and Choice Regarding Ads. We’ve added more controls and choices about the data that can be used to personalize ads. We’ve also updated language about when you allow advertisers to get access to your personal information.

  • Insights and Suggestions. We make it easier to understand how we customize your experience based on your data, including what you see, what we suggest and how we generate insights.

  • Professional Community Policies. LinkedIn is a community made up of our members and these updated policies allow us to enforce action against those members that violate what’s acceptable.

In addition, you’ll have even more information about rights to your personal data and how to exercise these rights under our updated Terms of Service. Many of these changes are driven by a new European data protection law known as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which goes into effect in May.
