Get Hired on LinkedIn at AnitaB.Org’s 20th Annual Virtual Grace Hopper Celebration

Many women and non-binary professionals already face barriers to entering the tech industry, and this has been amplified by the effects of COVID-19 on the job market. Based on LinkedIn data, overall hiring in the Software & IT industry, where women make up just over one third of overall employees, is down 23.9% YoY. Finding ways to stand out is more critical than ever.

The annual AnitaB.org Grace Hopper Celebration (GHC) has a huge impact in increasing the presence of women in STEM, tech and engineering roles. Marking their 20th GHC with a virtual celebration in 2020, AnitaB.org envisions a future where the people who imagine and build technology mirror the people and societies for whom they build it.

Last year, nearly 25,000 women in tech attended GHC, and this year we’re partnering with AnitaB.org to take the hiring event virtual.

Through our partnership, women and nonbinary technologists at all stages of their careers can connect with companies hiring on LinkedIn. Jobseekers who submit their profiles will be included in a virtual talent pool for companies recruiting at GHC, and for the rest of 2020.

Job seekers can submit their profiles to participate in the virtual GHC talent pool in under a minute to indicate their interest in specific tech careers. Those interested in software engineering roles will be invited to complete Skill Assessments and showcase their technical expertise through badges on their LinkedIn profiles that recruiters can see in their searches.

Our data shows that members who earn badges for Skill Assessments are 20% more likely to get hired than candidates who don’t, giving jobseekers a significant advantage in a competitive job market.

Opting into the GHC virtual talent pool ensures that job seekers will be highlighted to recruiters at participating companies through the end of 2020. This is especially important as so many entry level women enter an extremely challenging job market.
