Follow the Changemakers Fuelling Change in Australian Workplaces

What we’ve all discovered in the past year is that change, as uncomfortable it may be, brings opportunities. From re-evaluating our approach to work-life balance to exploring new careers and roles, the pandemic has been a catalyst to force conversation, challenge old ways of thinking and bring together communities of people to give and get help.
On LinkedIn, we’ve seen more open and constructive conversations around topics such as diversity, mental health and sustainability. Amongst this, we've identified seven Changemakers leading some of these conversations across the country: LinkedIn members enacting change in the topics most important to professionals in Australia. Throughout the year, they’ll be sharing insights and sparking conversations from their different perspectives. We will be working with them to amplify their voices and reach more members as they set out to enact positive change.

Bianca Hunt | Changing representation in front of the screen, and behind
A proud Kamilaroi, Barkindji, Ballardong and Wadjak Woman, Bianca Hunt is on a mission to improve First Nations representation and empower young entrepreneurship through her talent agency AGNT BLAK. Building from her successful career in the media, Bianca will share with the LinkedIn community how she has made AGNT BLAK a safe environment for First Nations talent to thrive in mainstream spaces, and how we can learn to adopt these practices in our own workplaces.

Dr. Amantha Imber | Changing the way people do their best work
Founder of behavioural science consultancy Inventium, Dr. Amantha Imber is an organisational psychologist that reinvents companies through fresh, creative perspectives and insights. She is one of the Australian Financial Review’s 100 Women of Influence and her work has made a significant impact on major companies in Australia. On LinkedIn, she’ll be sharing with the community tips and strategies on how we can reinvent our professional lives by talking about habits, rituals and techniques.

Toby Thorpe | Changing the narrative around sustainability
Toby Thorpe is a passionate advocate for youth empowerment and climate action. As a recipient of the Tasmania Young Australian of the Year in 2021, Toby has twice led the Tasmanian Youth Delegation, as part of the United Nations Climate Change Conference and enabled students to meet with Australian Government representatives. Toby wants to change the narrative around climate action and the workplace by equipping the LinkedIn community with the skills and knowledge to be part of the solutions that lead to change.

Brenda Gaddi | Changing workplaces for Women of Colour
Brenda Gaddi is the founder of Women of Colour, championing women’s voices for over a decade. She established one of the first community platforms in Australia where women content creators were fairly remunerated for their work and time. She believes that growth and comfort do not co-exist, and will advocate for the advancement of women of colour in the workplace.

Steven Satour | Changing people’s potential
Steven Satour, is a proud Yankunytjatjara, Pitjantjatjara and Pertame man from Central Australia. He has an accomplished track record in working with Indigenous artists and groups to positively impact social and economic welfare of the community. As a campaign manager at R U OK?, he led the landmark Stronger Together suicide prevention campaign targeted at Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Through LinkedIn, he will show people how to embrace their intersectional backgrounds and cultures to reach their potential.

Carly Findlay | Changing professional mindsets to be more accessible and inclusive
Carly Findlay OAM is an award-winning writer, speaker and appearance activist. She identifies as a proud disabled woman – living with a rare, severe skin condition, ichthyosis. Throughout her career, she’s made historic changes for people with disabilities such as ‘Access to Fashion’ (a Melbourne Fashion Week event featuring disabled models) and Australia’s first Ichthyosis meet in 2015. Carly will be equipping people with knowledge on how to make workplaces more accessible and educating people to be better allies towards the disability community.

His work includes enhancing happiness at work and promoting healthy living via positive psychology principles.
